Lloyds Bank
Role: Head of UX design
Description:
Lloyds is one the “big four” retail and commercial banks in the UK. The team I led was responsible for the UX design work for all online banking. This included both the website and the iPhone and android apps.
Initially the UX design team consisted of 3 in-house UX designers as well as some additional designers who worked for an external design agency. One of my responsibilities was to build an in-house UX capability and remove the UX dependency on the design agency.
By the time I left, the in-house team consisted of 16 UX designers. The team worked across multiple complex projects within the online banking space. Many of the projects overlapped with each other so a big part of the challenge was to make sure collaboration was as seamless as possible. With such a large team, placing the right people on the right projects at the right time was also a key part of the role.
The UX team became established within the bank and was integrated into the design /development process.
