Cycle For Good
In September 2018 my girlfriend and I flew to Vietnam with our bicycles and cycled back 18,000km to our home in Amsterdam. We used this opportunity to create "Cycle For Good" and raise money for 26 Burmese refugee children so that they could go to school, have a place to live and food to eat. It took us 2 years to get home
We raised more than €7000 for refugee kids from Karen state in Myanmar (Burma). They are now trapped in refugee camps, unable to go back home, and left behind by the authorities with not enough food, means of education or basic necessities. In 2018 we started with an initial goal of raising €3200. After one year we not only raised €3200 but raised a massive €5086. In September 2019 we decided to make sure we continued to fund the education of these Burmese children every year and increased our goal to €7000 to pay for their second year of education. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the people that need it. As well as raising the money we had an absolutely amazing adventure cycling home through 17 different countries. In every country we met wonderfully friendly and generous people who made our trip one of the best experiences I've ever had. |
